Colin Smillie is currently the Product Manager for, one of the leading automotive sites in Canada. He provides Trader Corporation with technology leadership and a customer focus covering individual buyers and sellers, automotive resellers and world leading automotive manufactures. He has extensive market experience gained at several leading Internet, wireless and security providers in Canada, the United States and Asia-Pacific. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ottawa and Computer Electronics in Ontario, and has been able to translate this technical expertise into the classified media industry for

Colin Smillie has spent the last 12 years online starting with his first exposure to the internet in university. He helped start Weslink Datalink, the leading internet service providers in his home city of Hamilton, Ontario, which was eventually purchased by Cogeco Cable.

His ability to connect market needs with the business has allowed him to work and travel around the world. He has worked as a expatriate in both Sydney, Australia and Tokyo, Japan. He was part of team developing the Asia/Pacific markets for Secure Computing Corporation, one of the leading internet security companies.

Colin enjoys presenting and communicating with large groups. He has presented at the following:

  • "Search Engine Optimization” at the International Classified Media Association - May, 2006
  • “How To Build a Business Case That Wins?” at Toronto Product Managers Associate – March, 2006
  • “MythTV” at the Greater Toronto Linux User Group - November, 2005

Over the last 5 years he has also presented at over 20 of the leading internet security conferences around the world.

He speaks fluent French, good Japanese and enjoys designing computer games and web sites in his spare time. He has also been a big supporter of open-source software and runs server Linux systems including a MythTV personal video recorder for his combined entertainment needs.
