Sonia Carreno is the founding principal of Passage Communications, a Toronto based consultancy practice focused on the developing trends in online media.
Passage Communications puts clients in touch with valuable online research,product development strategies and competitive landscape analysis. Specialties include social media, local search, SEO and mobility.
Prior to Passage, Sonia was General Manager at DAC Group Digital, Canada's leading directional advertising agency where she developed a digital practice consisting of local search, SEO, Internet Yellow Pages, targeted awareness and media consulting.
From 1998 to 2001 Sonia served as Media Director at Modem Media Canada (now Digitas) where she led blue chip clients to developing award wining online media strategies. Clients included General Motors, Manulife Direct, Coca Cola and Kraft Foods.
Sonia became deeply involved in evangelizing the online channel while serving as a media strategist at The Media Company in the mid 90's. While working with print, television, radio and outdoor media, Sonia was an early adopter of the Internet and its impact on the global media landscape.
Her career started in sports marketing at IMG Canada, the world's largest sports marketing company. At IMG, Sonia was involved in broadcast production sales and marketing as well as event management.
Sonia's passion for the online media industry is echoed in her involvement with the IAB, AIMs and as an active member of the Advisory Board for Loyalist College's Media Sales & Buying program.
